DADS’ CLUB

The Dads’ Club is a social and service organization open to all STCS dad’s and male parishioners of Saint Theresa Parish. Our purpose is to serve Saint Theresa Catholic School for the benefit of the students, while being a source of fun and fellowship for our members.  We take great pride in helping out through the school year at the various activities: grilling burgers and hot dogs at the School Festival; coordinating an annual Dads’ Club Halloween Party and hosting an annual golf tournament. Join us for some fun while serving our school and parish to benefit the students.

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION (EMC)

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are lay members of the community who assist the Priest and Deacon (the “ordinary” ministers of communion) in distributing the Body and Blood of Christ during Mass.  Eucharistic Ministers should have a particular devotion and love for the Eucharist, exhibited by their reverence and a desire to be of humble service at the table of the Lord.  Eucharistic Ministers must be fully-initiated, practicing Roman Catholics at least 16 years of age, who are registered in the parish.  Service assignments are scheduled in three-month periods, and Mass preferences and unavailable dates can be accommodated.  Frequency of service is dependent upon the number of available ministers and may be able to be limited if needed.  An interview and parish-provided training is required for this year-long commitment.

FAITH AND LIGHT U.S.A. WEST

We are a community movement whose mission is to help people who are intellectually challenged to find their rightful place at the heart of the Church.  Objectives are to deepen friendships, carry one another's burdens, encourage and support each other, see the Face of Christ in all of our brothers and sisters, to participate in Sacramental life and to become signs of God’s love.  We meet monthly with the intellectually challenged, their parents and friends.  We pray, sing and share our experiences, go on outings and Pilgrimages, celebrate the Eucharist, and give to each other through our love and caring.  We welcome members of all faiths to join us in our Celebration of Life.

FUNERAL RECEPTION MINISTRY

Pastoral Care Ministers, called Kitchen Angels, help prepare a reception for the family following the Funeral Mass for their loved one.  Families in grief often do not have the physical or mental ability to prepare a reception at this time of sorrow. This is a holy ministry that enables friends and family to gather together after the service to share healing memories of their loved one.  This act of hospitality is deeply appreciated and speaks of the love that our community has for those who are in grief. Help is needed with food, set-up, or clean-up.

HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE

The Ministry of Hospitality works to enhance the spirit of fellowship among parishioners by serving refreshments after Sunday morning Masses, as well as other parish events. Individuals, families, and parish groups are invited to join this ministry. The commitment is approximately once a month or by event. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet other parishioners and welcome visitors to our church.

LECTORS

Our Church teaches that Christ is not only present in the Eucharist, but also in the Word proclaimed.  Lectors, then, do not merely “read” at Mass, but instead understand and proclaim the Scriptures for the benefit of all those gathered.  Lectors should have a love of Scripture and a desire to continually grow in knowledge and understanding of it.  Technical proficiency, including the ability to read aloud clearly and intelligibly, strong public presence, and a generally-pleasing speaking voice, is also necessary.  Lectors must be fully-initiated, practicing Roman Catholics at least 16 years of age, who are registered in the parish.  Service assignments are scheduled in three-month periods, and Mass preferences and unavailable dates can be accommodated.  Frequency of service is dependent upon the number of available ministers and may be able to be limited if needed.  An interview and parish-provided training is required for this year-long commitment.
